When it comes to mental health & the issues these 2 young men were facing & dealing with that they never should be allowed to leave the mental hospital or mental health facilities that they were being kept in! With the gruesome situation behind Li he should’ve never been allowed to leave & rejoin the public because what if he decides to stop taking his medication & has another episode but this time kills an entire family or worse? As bad as this sounds, I often wonder with cases like this if the perpetrators don’t use the mentally challenged as a way to avoid life in a prison or receive the death penalty!
I know that if Li or DeGoord we’re walking free among us I woukd be absolutely terrified & I can just imagine how the family of the son that he not only unalived in the back of that bus but also mutilated his body, decapitated, had a couple of this boys body parts stuffed in his pockets as though they were souvenirs & was literally eating parts of his body… Lije I said I would be terrified knowing that my sons killer was walking the streets freely & the fact that he legally changed his name & if he were to do this to someone else or an entire family, that’s never be able to find him because unless he went back to the mental health hospital or facility & gave them his new identity to be placed within his file which I doubt he’d do & now we have a man walking the streets in central Canada 🇨🇦& could easily stalk his next victim or a family as his next target & no one would know whom to look for & now we have a serial psychopath targeting individuals or families all because his mental illness is telling him to kill these people or the aliens or whomever were coming to kill him! Matthew will probably never be set 100% free & he may never hurt anyone else ever again but that’s something that as a mental health professional should be aware of & if he is set free without restrictions or having to report to his doctor once a month then that’s something I would take into a great deal of consideration. So they maybe one of the reasons behind Matthew not getting a chance to be free like Li was & the same things should’ve been put into place with Li, that he report to the mental health facility for follow ups & making sure he’s taking his medication as prescribed & to also check in with his mental health doctor monthly or if he feels like he needs to see his doctor more or less.
