It is hard to believe that March is almost done with. I have been working hard like a little spooky beaver to get as many episodes completed and uploaded as possible. Why? Next month, I am flying back to my home town to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Then I will not be home for very long before I am packing my bags again, and going to Spain! If you are interested in seeing my travel blog and photos - please consider signing up for our fan club. It is there that I update all my spook-er-inos about my travels. But enough of that for now…let’s get into March’s episodes.
We started off the month by releasing our episode called: The Dark History of the Old Paulding Jail. This episode was requested by one of our fans, and this fan didn’t disappoint. I was shocked to find out during research that the tiny town of Paulding once held the record of having the highest unsolved murder rate in the United States. But I think it was the ideology of the authorities of the time that explains why. I couldn’t imagine today having a Sheriff say that since the murder victims were not local - they would do nothing about it. So much for protect and serve.
I think that saddest tale attached to this jail is the story of Nancy Eagleson. Her crime remains unsolved, and it seems like that her case was bungled either due to incompetence, or on purpose. Whether or not this prison was connected to Nancy or her killer is not known for sure, but it does seem like in this situation that someone out there knows something. If you know even a hint of a clue, please…let the police know. Nancy’s family still has no answers.
It makes sense that this jail (or any jail for that matter) could be haunted. Many have suffered greatly behind the Paulding Jail’s walls with many of them never leaving. If a building could be marked by human thoughts or emotions, this building would be one of them. But this is the exact opposite of what could have happened at a church that we spoke about in our second episode of the month. The legend behind the historic Egg Hill Church is dark indeed, but the problem is that it is not real. Even so, a dark tale never lets the facts get in the way of a good story. This is not a good thing. Because of this, this community has been suffering for years with vandal and thieves damaging and taking items from this church and its property. So here is my request…please stop. For every item taken or damaged; this is a desecration to those buried there and hurtful to their families. The same thing goes for the other churches we spoke about in the episode. It’s like what my mom told me constantly as a little kid: look, but don’t touch.
Our next episode came out on March 19, 2025, and it was a doozy. There are some episodes that I can research and write quickly, and there are some that are not. Sometimes, the story is so dark that I need to take a break from writing, and this episode was one of those cases. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to learn that you are being stalked behind the walls of your own house. The terror that the Bowen family must have felt is indescribable. But the thingk that blows my mind in this case was that it was clear that there were problems with Daniel for quite some time. With that said, the escalation of his crimes was insanely fast. I can’t help but wonder what switch flipped in his head, and why.
Our last episode in March was also about a killer, but she wasn’t as blatant. Dr. Linda Hassard was the instigator behind so many deaths, yet at the end - she still thought she was right. Even after her conviction and the removal of her medical licence, she still practiced what she preached. I found it ironic that she died because of it. I find that there are two types of people in the world: the first are those who have to be right. The second are those who want to be happy (I choose this category). I have met many in my life who feel that they always have to be right, but all of them are deeply unhappy. In Linda’s case, I believe that she was too narcissistic to even consider what she was doing was wrong, and it was no shock to me that she blamed others around her for her receiving punishment for what she did.
